Role: Improvement Support Assistant – Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) Improvement Programme

Location: Flexible

Salary: £20,559 – £22,464

Contract: Temporary for 2 years from start date

About us

The Care Inspectorate is a scrutiny body that supports improvement in care. Our vision is the people across Scotland receive high quality care that meets their needs, rights and choices. We are a national organisation, employing in excess of 600 staff working across our network of offices.

About the role

We are looking for an Improvement Support Assistant to join the Improvement support team and work within the Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) Improvement Programme. This programme will be focused on providers, e.g. nurseries or childminders who offer funded places but are not currently meeting the quality criteria in the National Standard.

The improvement programme will deliver improvement learning events and improvement support to these providers across Scotland using an improvement approach which is designed to help providers close the gap of what good practice looks like and what is actually delivered.

This is an exciting role and will require a high level of engagement with our ELC inspectors, external partners as well as stakeholders from across the organisation and will therefore provide a good understanding as to how the Care Inspectorate works at all levels.

The duties for this role will include:

  • a key support role in supporting the ELC Improvement Programme to deliver its objectives over the 2 year period.
  • working closely with the senior improvement adviser and 2 improvement advisers to support the smooth running of the day to day activities of the programme
  • supporting the organising and delivering of the improvement learning events across Scotland
  • liaising with early learning child care providers and internal inspection teams
