Peter Macleod added: "I am honoured to have been appointed as Chief Executive of the Care Inspectorate. I am aware that the organisation and staff play an important and vital role in protecting people who are vulnerable and who experience care. At a time of ongoing change in the social care sector, we need to make sure we continue to provide public protection. It is also important that we continue to help drive improvement where care services are not providing safe, compassionate and high-quality care.

"I look forward to consolidating and building on the work of the organisation. My priority is to work in collaboration with staff, scrutiny partners, service providers, people who experience care services, and their families, and to improve outcomes for people across Scotland."
