This day-long event will offer an exciting opportunity for artists, arts organisations and care providers to share inspiring practice, create new partnerships and discuss the challenges around delivering creative activities in care settings.
It will enable delegates to widen their understanding of the opportunities offered by the arts in care settings, and will open up honest dialogue between both sectors about the opportunities and challenges of this work.
The seminar will be immediately followed by a preview of a new exhibition on themes of ageing in the Threshold artspace at Perth Concert Hall, and a screening of Alive Inside, a documentary about the work of Music & Memory in the USA.
Interest in creative activities with and for older people in Scottish care settings – whether residential care homes, day centres or being cared for at home – is growing. An increasing number of artists and arts organisations are working in this field, and are seeking ways to develop their skills and knowledge, and to share practice. Many care professionals organise and/or deliver arts activities for the older people they work with, and are keen to understand more about the possibilities that exist.
