NHS Fife Microbiology laboratories receives approximately 70000 urine specimens per annum requesting culture. Many of the requests indicate the test was sent because of a positive dipstick test in a catheterised patient.

Test of change on complaint, inspection activity (Older People's services)

Rota parents in daycare of children services
Historically playgroups in the East have been allowed by the regulator (Care Commission, SCSWIS, Care Inspectorate) to count rota parents as part of the ratios, while in the West this has not been the practice applied. For all playgroups, as with all other day care of children services, the regulator has ensured that there is a qualified manager in day to day charge.

Report on Serious Incident Reviews
The Care Inspectorate has today published a report on Criminal Justice Social Work Serious Incident Reviews.
Serious Incident Reviews are carried out by local authority criminal justice social work services to make sure lessons are learned if things go wrong when an offender is on licence or some other form of supervision. The report has highlighted areas of successful good practice across Scotland, but also made recommendations where further improvements should be made.
