We are testing a new method for collecting feedback on childminding services, in real time.

It is aimed at people who use childminding services and childminding assistants, who wish to share information about their child’s experience out with an inspection. However, anyone can share feedback at any time on the quality of care and children’s experiences provided by a specific registered childminder.

The new arrangement does not replace existing systems for reporting concerns or complaints, and the feedback forms should not be used for this purpose.

Any information gathered will be used to inform inspection planning and our ongoing assessment of the service. We may also contact the person providing the feedback for more information.

Audrey Donnan, Chief Inspector (early learning and childcare), said: “We’re really pleased to be testing this new feedback system, and all feedback received will be acknowledged.

“To participate, individuals can use the 'give feedback' button located next to the details of the childminder on the Care Inspectorate's website. To locate the correct childminder, users must search the 'find care' section using as much information about the childminder as possible, with name and town as a minimum. Alternatively, if the registration number of the service is known, this can also be used to find the service more easily within the 'find care' section. The registration number is 12 digits long and starts with ‘CS’.”

Registered childminders are encouraged to share this information with families using their service.
