The Care Inspectorate is hosting two webinars in February which will focus on foot health. We will be joined by podiatrists who will advise on personal footcare (how to carry out footcare and who should provide this care) and how to prevent avoidable harm (pressure damage) to feet. The webinars are open to all but they will be particularly useful for staff working in care home and care at home services.

Webinar 1: Personal Footcare

Date and time: Tuesday 8 February, 11:00-12:00

This webinar aims to provide guidance on how to carry out footcare, reducing the risk of poor foot health and ensuring high quality care is being provided.

Outcomes:

  • Develop a working knowledge of how to carry out personal footcare
  • Recognise your role and responsibility in providing personal care
  • Identify areas of concern which may require referral to podiatry/tissue viability nurse

Webinar 2: CPR for Feet

Date and time: Tuesday 15 February, 11:00-12:00

This webinar aims to increase knowledge about avoidable pressure damage to feet.

Outcomes:

  • Raise awareness of the problem that exists regarding avoidable pressure damage to heels
  • Introduction and explanation of the National CPR for Feet campaign supported by the Scottish Government
  • Guidance on strategies for providing pressure relief/redistribution to suit individual needs
  • How to access training and support materials to enable the introduction of the CPR for Feet campaign to reduce avoidable harm
