Global Handwashing Day, which takes place on Monday 15 October 2012 is the 5th anniversary of this event.
Focusing on children, the day is designed to foster a global culture of handwashing with soap and raise awareness around the benefits of the practice. Over 200 million people will be involved in celebrations around the world to mark the day. International Infection Prevention Week begins on Monday 15 October 2012 with infection preventionists all over the world taking action to highlight the importance of protecting the public from avoidable infections and to highlight infection prevention and its power to save lives.
