The Care Inspectorate has published a report on early implementation of the ‘Preventing Infection in Care' educational resource for care homes and the home environment.
In September 2011 six care home and care at home services volunteered to be part of an early implementer programme for the Preventing Infection in Care educational resource. The purpose of the programme was to uncover best ways of implementing the resource for these services. This report brings together their experiences, findings and lessons learned. We hope that the recommendations in this report will help providers in Scotland to implement Preventing Infection in Care.
Launched in August 2011, development of the Preventing infection in Care resource was led by the Care Inspectorate and NHS Education for Scotland (NES), with support from key partners. This included service providers, Scottish Care, Association of Directors of Social Work (ADSW) and representation from the Health Protection Nurse Specialists Scottish Network.

Preventing Infection in Care is available as a DVD programme and includes a supporting CD Rom. The DVD offers two resources - an induction module and a main programme. The CD contains the transcripts of the DVD programme, a workbook with learning outcomes and a certificate of completion along with many useful links and guidance on topic areas.
