The Care Inspectorate is supporting the Scottish Social Services Council’s event ‘Improving Leadership in Childminding’.  This event is free for registered childminders, will take place on 21 January 2017 and is also supported by SCMA.

This is an exciting time for childminding with developments like a learning pathway to support continuous professional development and increasing entitlements to Scottish Government funded early learning and childcare. This event will inspire you as a childminder to demonstrate high quality leadership and be confident in your leadership capabilities and how you use them effectively in your work.  There will be opportunities for you to explore the importance of evaluating your service. You will gain a better understanding from the Care Inspectorate of a new learning pathway to support you in leading your ongoing professional learning.  The Scottish Childminding Association will tell you about national developments and there will be space to share your practice ideas and hear from others how they continuously lead and develop their service.

Outcomes from the day include:

Leadership is fundamental to improving quality outcomes for children and after the event you will have better knowledge and learning about:

  • what leadership means for you as a childminder
  • how you recognise your own leadership skills
  • how other childminders demonstrate effective leadership
  • future developments which support the leadership of the childminding sector.

The event will take place at Dewars Centre, Glover Street, Perth, PH2 0TH, is free and runs from 10.00am to 3pm. Lunch and refreshments provided.
