23rd – 29th June marks World Continence Week, to promote global awareness around continence.

The impact of bladder or bowel problems on someone’s quality of life can be catastrophic, and even more difficult to deal with due to the taboo that still exists around incontinence. The potential for improvement or cure is huge however, and NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s Community Continence Team aims to break down those barriers and encourage patients to refer themselves, or be referred, to a local Continence Clinic at the earliest opportunity.

To highlight this, this month sees the launch of NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s new Continence Leaflet, which as well as giving people self-management tips, publicises contact details for the regional Continence Team.

If you, or someone you care for who lives within Dumfries and Galloway, has bladder or bowel problems please contact the Continence Service on (01387)244405.
