As part of their first birthday celebrations last week, The Silver Line showed their new Christmas video to remind everyone that a lot of older people suffer the pain of loneliness, not just at Christmas.

The film features Leslie, just one of the many callers to The Silver Line.

The Silver Line is the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Supported and led, in Scotland, by Age Scotland this befriending service aims to tackle loneliness and combat anxiety.  Age Scotland will answer calls from Scottish landlines from 8am to 8pm.  Their team specialises in enquiries about care, benefits, housing, heating, legal and end-of-life issues.  The Silver Line’s national helpline (0800 4 70 80 90) will answer calls at all other times.
