It follows concerns raised about The Ark Nursery in the city.

The Care Inspectorate has now served a formal improvement notice on the nursery outlining the areas which must be improved.

The areas of concern were child protection and staff recruitment.

A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: “The safety and well-being of children is our top priority and where we have concerns about a service we do not hesitate to act.

"We have informed the nursery of the areas where we require improvement.

“If we are not satisfied that significant improvements have made within the timescale we require we will not hesitate to take further action.”

The improvement notice says the nursery must ensure by 14 March 2014 that staff and the nursery manager have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities regarding child protection.

It also says that by the same date the nursery must review and revise recruitment policies and procedures and identify and implement any required improvements.
