Scottish Ministers have issued revised guidance about fire safety in all care homes. This guidance supersedes the February 2008 version and has been substantially edited to make it more user-friendly, taking account of comments received during a public consultation exercise.

It contains important information about the responsibilities of care home providers in ensuring fire safety.

The guidance ‘Practical Fire Safety Guidance for Care Homes’ can be accessed here - http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2014/03/1383

It is also available on the FireLaw web pages under the ‘Sector Specific Guidance’ section. ‘FireLaw’ offers guidance on fire safety for all those who have responsibility for, or operate, non-domestic premises in Scotland as set out in Part 3 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005.
