We have just published three guides for providers on personal planning

Guide 1: Early Learning and Childcare

Guide 2: Children and Young People

Guide 3: Adults

The aim of these guides are to support managers and staff in services to develop and improve how personal plans for children, young people and adults are undertaken. It will help inspectors to evaluate personal plans in a more consistent way during our scrutiny and improvement work.

There is a growing commitment to shift from input health and social care systems to a system that will focus on personal outcomes for people who experience care. This means services have to record and measure ‘what matters’ to a person in order to demonstrate how they are meeting their personal outcomes.

The guides have been developed collaboratively by colleagues within the early learning and childcare, children and young people, and adults’ inspection teams. National policy, legislation, evidence-based practice and real-life examples of people experiencing care have underpinned the development of these.
