Call for practice examples for new early years food resource
We are collaborating with Scottish Government and NHS health boards to develop a new resource that will celebrate and share examples of good practice for eating well in early learning and childcare settings. The publication will enhance the key messages from NHS Health Scotland’s guidance Setting the Table and will be useful across the wide range of children’s settings in the community.

Blog: New online childminding resource

This is an exciting time for the childminding profession in Scotland. Childminders are an integral part of the Scottish Government’s plan to almost double entitlement to funded early learning and childcare (ELC) to 1140 hours per year by 2020 for all three- and four-year-olds as well as all eligible two-year-olds.
With this major increase in funded ELC hours, many of Scotland’s 5500 childminders may wish to play an important role in this expansion. So, it’s essential they continue to have up-to-date resources to help them provide the best possible outcomes for the children in their care.

Social service workforce Register opens for 45,000 workers in care at home and housing support
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) today (2 October 2017) opened the Register to 45,000 people working in care at home and housing support services across Scotland, the biggest single group of workers to register with the SSSC. They will join the 100,000 people already on the Register, including their managers and supervisors and people working in social work, adult care, children’s day and residential services.
