More and more people are using this legal route to give powers to someone they trust – usually a relative or close friend - to make decisions on their behalf when they are unable to do so themselves.

Childminders central to childcare ambitions, Scottish Government announces

Childminders will be central to the delivery of the Scottish Government’s massive expansion of childcare in both nurseries and childminders, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said today as she announced plans for a new standard of best practice for the profession.

The standard will include a new training and induction programme that all childminders will be expected to complete prior to registration. Currently, childminders are registered and are inspected but do not have to undertake qualifications in order to register.

Some care providers have approached us about reconfiguring their staffing model, to develop the role of their senior care workers so that they can deploy their nurses more effectively and in some cases reduce reliance on agency nursing.
