A spokesman for SCSWIS said:

SCSWIS is aware of the financial issues surrounding Southern Cross Healthcare and we continue to pay close attention to the quality of all care services in Scotland, in order to ensure that residents continue to receive acceptable standards of care.

As with any care home, the people who live in the 97 Southern Cross care homes across Scotland deserve to receive the highest standards of care and be treated with dignity and respect at all times – and we will not hesitate to take action with any service provider that fails to meet these expectations.

We have placed Southern Cross under the same high level of scrutiny as every other care provider we have concerns about in Scotland, and we rigorously inspect all of these services.

Where any care home has received poor grades or had complaints made against them, we take appropriate action to ensure that immediate improvements are made. Where improvements are not made, we will not hesitate to take further action to protect the health and wellbeing of people using these services.

It is important that relatives and friends of care home residents feel confident in raising concerns with you. By doing so, they allow us to swiftly address and resolve issues with the services to improve the quality of care they provide for residents. Anyone can make a complaint by contacting us on 0345 600 9527 or visiting the Complaints section of this website.
