A nursery in Bathgate has been praised by the Care Inspectorate for delivering excellent care to children.

The service, which provides care for up to 76 children, was rated ‘excellent’ by inspectors for the third inspection in a row.

In their latest inspection report, inspectors noted: “A team of well qualified professional staff respect the children's ability to make decisions about their own play and learning experiences.

“They facilitate this through a high quality, fun and well resourced environment. The parents' role in their children's care and education is valued and parents are actively encouraged to become involved with the service.

“We found that children thrived in an environment that empowered and respected them. This was made possible because of the commitment and professionalism of the staff team.”

A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “Everyone in Scotland has the right to good quality, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.

“The majority of care services in Scotland perform well, and where we encounter excellent services, it is vital we share good practice so that all care services in Scotland continue to improve and reach the high standards we expect.

“There is no room for complacency, and we will continue to work with this service to ensure high standards are maintained.
