An exciting pilot project is about to start in November this year which supports older people in care homes to enjoy an aquatic experience.

Perth and Kinross, West Lothian and Fife have agreed to take part in this pilot in partnership with the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Swimming. It is an exciting opportunity for both residents and staff.

Many residents are keen to take part in the 6 week pilot and local leisure centres are supporting the pilot with pool time and swim tutors. A carer will be in the water with the resident along with the tutor and training is taking place prior to the pilot starting. The pilot project will be evaluated with the hope that this opportunity will extend to many residents across Scotland. The first pilot starts on the 11th November at Perth and Kinross Leisure pool.
